"If it's not fun, why do it?"

I’m an observer.

I like to make observations and have people comment on how observant I am or how witty my observations are.

I observe the human condition, the world around me, and things that tickle my fancy. In my blog you can observe me as I observe… you. I like to have fun, hence, “Just Having Fun” is my blog. Laughter is definitely fun. So I laugh a lot and try to have pleasure (i.e., fun) with everything I do. Sorting socks can be hilarious… with the right attitude. Riding the NYC subway is always interesting…. . I do enjoy a good yarn (yes, a play on words), dark roasted coffee, and laughing babies. And I can’t forget to mention love of Pittsburgh, my home town. Pittsburgh is a great place.

And there’s always my knitting. See my projects here:

Happiness is a choice. Fun funnier funniest.  I like to have fun.  I look for things to enjoy. I choose to take pleasure where I can. I hope these pages pass on a bit of my fun and some of my observations to you.

What is a bit of fun? Nothing too exciting—not like going to an amusement park, or playing pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey when you’re 9 years old.  What seems like fun to me might not be fun for you and vice versa. I do not think jumping out of airplanes would be fun, getting tattooed, or following World Cup Soccer, among many things.

My kind of fun is more like rubber chickens, reading Craigslist and laughing at oddball things, taking my recycling to the trash room, and The Far Side. I think the talking twin babies video is hysterical, too! Yeah, I’m a mom of twins AND I’m easily amused. Can you say “cat & toilet paper video“?

Have fun. Life is to be enjoyed. Be grateful for what you have and enjoy G=d’s world. And don’t forget to laugh.

Hi, thanks for taking time to look at my blog! We share a delight in small things, and an appreciation for nature. Although I’m in Seattle now, and loving it, I grew up in NJ and spent a lot of time in NYC. I’m enjoying your posts of the city.

  2. Hello! I found my way here after reading your comment on Glory Begin this morning. Yay for more fun in the world! I’ve been seeking a more joyful and meaningful life by way of a quest to discover a positive blog every day of 2014, while keeping a list on my own blog. Your site is my final entry on the list. 🙂 Happy New Year to you!

    • Thank you, Meg, for your enthusiastic comments. I write because it does something positive for me. That’s a selfish reason. It’s so gratifying to hear that my thoughts are increasing joy for others. That’s my altruistic reason. I hope to show that by taking moments of delight in our surroundings, and choosing to look at the world with a good eye, we can improve our lot and indeed, affect the lives of others. Observation and connection. Appreciation and gratitude. I hope to hear more from you.

      • Yes, I’ll certainly come by again — your writing is very much in the same spirit as what I’ve been focusing on this past year. Appreciating those little joyful moments can make life so much better!
